A tasty way to shift your day into high gear–that's the tagline for Clif Bar’s eyebrow-raising product–Coffee Collection. It’s a coffee flavored Clif Bar containing the same amount of caffeine as a shot of espresso.
While planning how to reveal their new creation to the world, Clif came to us to execute their vision in the form of a video marketing campaign plus a photo and video asset library for their artists to pull from when crafting future creative assets.
Coffee Collection needed to appeal to an unfamiliar cross-section of Clif's audience–people who enjoy coffee house culture, but are too busy to indulge in it.
Our challenge was to capture photo and video assets that would speak to this niche and to make sure we supplied Clif's creative team with enough creative building blocks to cover Coffee Collection's launch phase, and introduce the already-planned Coffee Mini bars.
Approach
Clif's world-building deck gave us a great idea of their vision. We broke it down into its components to make a production plan, which included locking down casting, wardrobe, props, locations, and crew.
We'd only have a single shoot day, so our plan had to be airtight. It meant finding locations as close as possible to each other, and having two small sets running simultaneously–one shooting lifestyle photos, the other shooting video.
We sent reference-graded image selects to Clif so they could make their final picks, and started work on the video assets on our list of deliverables–a hero product video, a looping landing page marquee, and product videos for Coffee Minis.
We also had a day of shooting in-studio to capture some live-action elements we'd need for the video assets, and afterward, handled all the post-production in-house, including editing, compositing, animation, and color grading.
